An Open Invitation To Teens

Precious friend,

This invitation is open to you...

and to those who hurt and harbor bitterness,

speak especially to you tonight.

We live in a time of quiet desperation.

Broken homes and promises

are a familiar cord

that transcends through many of our lives.

Many  teens are searching

for someone or something

to fill the emptiness in your life.

Some turn to sex

or to drugs and alcohol

to numb their pain,

while others contemplate suicide,

or turn to "cutting"

to release some of the hurt they feel inside.

How it must grieve the heart of God

to see you suffer alone in silence.

He longs rather that you turn to Him,

and to give you hope, that is found in His Son,

Jesus Christ.

Many  have heard the message of a "Father's Love",

but  never experienced a father's love

as to relate it to,

so it's message falls on deaf ears,

and is soon forgotten.

Some teens wonder why their parent walked out on them,

they feel abandoned

and somehow at fault.

Let me in on you a secret dear friend,

"It was never your fault...

nor will it ever be."

Adult issues are adult issues,

that young shoulders were never meant to bear.

Sometimes when adults hurt,

they don't handle issues properly.

In a moment of frustration,

they lay the burden of guilt

upon their teens,

as they struggle to deal with their own rejection.

I want you to know tonight, dear friend,

that you are quietly loved.

Quietly loved in Jesus...

His heart aches with compassion,

as He suffers along with you.

Maybe tonight you feel  mad at God...

you're angry at God,

cause life dealt you a rough hand.

I urge you tonight to release it to God.

Give to Him...

your hurt,

your anger, and bitterness

that you've been holding on for so long.

Release them tonight, dear friend...

visualize I did,

a  helium balloon ascending into the air,

as you give them to God,

one by one...

Give them to Him,

until your bitterness, hurt

and anger gets smaller and smaller,

the closer it gets to God.

The Lord understands your feelings,

you're not alone in your thoughts.

For He was a man of sorrows

and aquainted with grief,

He was tempted in all area of life as you are,

yet without sin,

so that He could carry your sins to the cross.

The Scriptures says

to be filled with hate,

is to commit murder,

murder in our hearts,

and breaks God's commandment.

Have you been guilty of murder, dear friend?

Then confess it to God.

Maybe you have lustful thoughts...

and you're entangled in the web of pornography,

Remember when  you feel   you're alone,

there is One watching, dear soul.

Though it grieves the Father's heart,

sin must be called for what it is.

The Scriptures says,

"that to look lustfully at a woman

is to commit adultry in your heart. "(Matthew 5:28)

Looking turns to lusting,

and lusting leads to death...

Have you been guilty of adultry, dear friend?

Confess it to God.

I'm not trying  to give you a verbal lashing

to add to your  wounded heart.

Rather out of love, the law teaches us

the holiness of God,

and is used to make us aware of our sin

and our need of a Savior. ( Galations 3:24)

The scriptures says,

In breaking one, you broke them all

and will be in danger of eternal damnation.

Dear soul, we are all

guilty of breaking God's laws.

We have all messed up big time

in a moment of great opportunity.

I know I have, many times.

I urge you to come to Christ

just as you are.

Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted,

and bind up their wounds.

He will restore joy in your life

and give you a life changing experience.

Right now, wherever you are,

you can bow your head,

and commit your life to Christ

and begin a relationship with Him

by praying a prayer such as the following:

"Oh God, I am sinner. I am sorry for my sins.

Please forgive me.

I want to turn from my sin and to

receive Jesus Christ as my Savior;

I confess Him as my Lord.

From now on, I want to follow Him.

In Jesus' name, Amen."
