Jesus, The Friend of Sinners - Facing Death Row

To those who are in jail, in prison, or on death row,

we are not here to condemn you,

but to offer you hope

that is found in Jesus Christ.

May our words be a source

of comfort and encouragement to you

through this difficult time.

Jesus, the Friend of Sinners

Precious soul,

I understand your thoughts.

Your ways are known to Me.

It hurts Me to see you feel so isolated, so alone,

when I care so much for you!

Jesus, the friend of sinners.

I have come that you might have life

and have it more abundantly.

I have plans to prosper you

and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.

Sometimes I see your defeat

in the stooping of your shoulders,

as you walk down that secluded hall, 

living on death row.

How I long to reach out to you,

to  comfort you,

to tell you I love you.

You are so precious to Me!

Through the years I have watched you

as you sit there quietly in your cell,

waiting to pay the debt of your past,

that I have long forgiven.

With each clanging of the prision bars

closing in behind you, you shiver at its coldness.

You cry out to Me for mercy again,

even though I have forgiven you,

the first time that you asked.

Tears of regret will never ease the pain

that is spoken in your eyes.

Your unworthiness makes you worthy

to come boldly before the throne of grace.

"For the sacrifices of God

are a broken sprit:

a broken and contrite heart,

O God, Thou wilt not despise."

Although you must pay with your life

for the life you took,

you need not to bear its shame.

For I have taken your sin and nailed it to the cross.

As far as the east is from the west,

never to be remembered again.

Those who put their faith in Me,

I will take them Home to glory.

When you must walk that last stretch of the mile,

don't be afraid, My child.

In that darkest hour, when you hear one set of footsteps in the hall,

it is then, that I'll carry you.

Dear Soul,

The Lord longs to have a relationship with you.

He offers you forgiveness through the shed blood of His Son.

If you will only receive it.

The Scriptures assures us of this,

"For by grace are ye saved through faith;

and that not of yourselves:

it is the gift of God."

-Ephesians 2:8

Tonight you can be forgiven,

and start your life all over.

You can begin a relationship with Christ,

by praying a prayer such as the following:

"Oh God, I am sinner.

I am sorry for my sins.

Please forgive me.

I want to turn from my sin.

I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior;

I confess Him as my Lord.

From now on, I want to follow Him.

In Jesus' name, Amen."
