When the days seem bright and cheery,

When the nights are long and dreary,

When life seems most worth while

When the world excels in guile,

When the birds sing their sweetest,

There is one Friend that seeks to give,

One that bids your troubles depart,

Upon that cross so bare and lone,

My Saviour died for my sins to atone.

But, Oh! That blessed first Easter Day

When the angel rolled that stone away,

Christ was victor over sin;

Eternal life to give to men.
